Package from my Brother and Sister-in-Law
We found a LanHouse! wayyy up in the other side of our area.
This
week has been pretty chill and normal. There
hasn’t been too much Carnaval excitement here in our area. Basically everyone
has gone to the city center to get their party on. A member showed us pictures
from the city and there were tonnnnnss of people at the Galo da Madrugada. I am
kinda sad because I thought we would have to run and try to escape people
throwing rotten eggs at us. Mardi-Gras would be the closest thing to Carnaval,
but here it is like 100 times worse.
I received
Michael's package from Louisiana finally!! It had tape on it from the Brazilian mail services saying
that it was opened and checked out. whatevs. I don’t think they stole anything because Mike
and Steph sent a bunch of weird Louisiana snacks!! It included alligator meat,
voodoo potato chips, gumbo, pork rinds, pralines, boiled crawfish flavored
jerky, okra in a jar, 'slap ya mama' (not) hot sauce, and other goodies.
I am actually pretty surprised because I have liked everything they put in there. Elder Gimenez' favorite is the voodoo potato chips.

Sadly, our progressing investigators are all having trials. Severino has arthritis and so his spine is doing really badly. So he needed to go to the doctor. Adriana got the Zika virus (Recife is the Zika world epicenter) and her body is red. She is in a lot of pain and can barely walk. Dilma's mom got super sick, so she and Elaine & Vitoria (our other investigators/Dilma's daughter and granddaughter) went to make a visit. We are still working hard.
I
have survived carnival so far. We still
have three more days, so we will see how it goes!
